Creation vs. Evolution (...con't.)
Verse 2 reads:
“And the earth was without form and void.”
Gap theorists claim that there is a great gulf of time between
Genesis 1:1
and Genesis
1:2. These theorists do not claim to be
in either the Creationists’
or the Evolutionists’
camp.
Reading these two verses as one continuous and unbroken
thought—as most biblical
expositors and Christians do—
assumes that God stopped by the earth to continue the
work
of
creation as if somehow He forgot to complete His creation
process. For God
to be God, He cannot
forget.
The word was in verse 2 is "hayah" in Hebrew. It means…became, or, come
to pass.
It is not a word
that means something that happened in the past;
it is something that
became. This fact changes the
entire meaning of
Genesis 1:2.
What then could have happened to the earth? Could Lucifer, after being
kicked out of
heaven, have
come down to this earth and totally destroyed
it knowing that it was God’s special creation? The
word “the earth” is not to
be taken lightly. A definite article is
used to describe God’s special creation.
When one thinks of a God creating the “heaven,”
and then includes earth,
wisdom must interpret it
as a very special creation.
Keep in mind that science today claims that there are millions of galaxies out in
space.
Now, for God
to include one little earth to be a special creation is beyond
human imag-ination. He did…so we are
special and Lucifer decided to totally
destroy it. Evolutionists therefore should accept this fact and
Creationists should
accept the fact that the age of this earth is beyond the age of the creation of
Adam and Eve. Creationists…this earth are
millions and millions of years old.
Evolutionists and Creationists…Genesis 1:2 should read: “and the earth became
formless and life was destroyed.”
