Psalm 91

v. 1 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty.

The word dwelleth used in this verse means, to dwell, remain, sit, and
abide. The context of verse 1 makes sense if the words remain and
abide are used. Thus, it could read: “He that remains and abides in the
shelter of the most High shall abide under His shadow.

Try reading it this way:

 v. 2 - I will say of the Lord, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; “in Him will
I trust.” Or…

 v. 2 - I will say of the Lord, “In Him will I trust.”  God is my refuge and my fortress.

The King James version of the Bible is sometimes difficult to read and understand.
However, if one studies the Hebrew and the Greek meanings of words, sentences
can become clearer.

v. 3 - Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the
noisome pestilence.

God will rescue and deliver you from the terrible trappings in life that destroys and from deadly plaques.   The term snare of the fowler means: the trap of trappers. Noisome pestilence is a deadly trap.

v. 4 - He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth
[shall be thy] shield and buckler
