The Canopy Theory
And God said...
"Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters
and let it divide the waters from the waters. And
God made the firmament and divided the waters,
which were under the firmament from the water
which, were above the firmament: and it was so."
Genesis 1:6 & 7
Firmament is an expanse...the heaven, as Jeremiah 10:13
said. It is not difficult to understand that "…firmament in
the midst of the waters" means an expanse is wedged
between two bodies of water.
If we are to accept the scripture's account of the Great Flood, then it should
not be difficult
to accept that a great body of water hung above the earth.
This explains the origin of the water that flooded the earth and the reason
for man's long life on the earth before the flood.
The water (not clouds) kept the deadly radiation of the sun from reaching
the earth's atmosphere. Men lived 700 to 900 years then. Today, most men
live less than a century.
A canopy of water surrounding the earth's expanse is the only explanation for
longevity of
life prior to the flood. And where did all that water come from that
flooded the earth? Did
that body of water above the earth play a part in man's
longevity? Can anyone answer that?
