Humans are confused schizophrenic beings not knowing whether to cry like
hungry babies in search of mother’s teats; succumb to the whims and the
demands of society, or throw himself at the feet of God even at the behest of
scoffers. Do you know of anyone who displays these behaviors? Of course we do. They
are all around us.

Christian Behavior

Freud’s psychology can be applied in explaining the same behaviors of Christians.

Let us take a child for instance. A child knows nothing other than what he wants and squalls until he gets it. Let us call this the “I want” level. He lives in the subconscious level of his being.

Human beings ultimately mature to the conscious level. Yet, even in that level, the struggle between searching higher levels of consciousness and succumbing to its lower nature where outside influences dictate the choices he should make heightens.

The greatest majority of the human race allows themselves to be governed by all those insignificant others called families, churches, governments, jobs, relatives, friends, etc, etc. Their dictates choke the very essence of freedom. Wisdom begins when we allow not
these significant others to rule our lives.
